Ken Sneed

Welcome to Church Harmony.  I want to tell you a little about my background and how God has prepared me for the work I am currently involved in.

I am an ordained minister with over thirty-five years of experience in church ministry and over 19 years of experience as a professional counselor and marriage and family therapist.  I earned my Master of Divinity degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX and my MA degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA.  I am a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, the American Counseling Association, and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

Today, my private practice in Baton Rouge, launched in 1993, is thriving.  I work with individuals experiencing a variety of issues including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, phobias, PTSD, and stress in the work place.  I am especially led to work with those experiencing relationship struggles in marriage, parenting and adult children dealing with aging parents.  Bringing people of opposing views to find a satisfactory resolution and discovering forgiveness in any offenses that may have occurred is especially rewarding.

I have served in ministry positions in several churches in Texas and Louisiana.  In the process, I have encountered a variety of church styles and ministerial colleagues that have prepared me to be sensitive to the need for the prevention and resolution of interpersonal and church conflict.  My current ministry is especially focused on coaching ministers to be more effective and cooperative with each other and their congregation.

Bringing factions in a church family into harmony is very similar to the work I do in my counseling practice.  Part of my resolution process is in association with Dr. Ken Newburger.  The principles Dr. Newberger has drawn from God’s Word can be, and are, applied to conflicts within marriage and family issues.  Drawing on the experiences I’ve gained in my family practice and applying them in working with a church family is a natural step forward in my service to our Lord.

I have been married to Diane for over 40 years, my partner in parenting two children who are now responsible adults and lovers of God with families of their own.  Carving out time for an occasional visit with our children and grandchildren is a special treat for us.  Our involvement in church with special friends keeps us busy and adds meaning to our lives.
